20th Annual Turkey Trot X-Country Run – Newburyport, MA

November 26, 2009 - Posted by Bobby - No Comments »

Thanksgiving day trail run – nothing better! This course was wet and muddy so I had to throw on some Injinji socks inside of my FiveFingers. The race had like 1240 people in it which is insane for a trail race. There was a lot of elbow bumping through the first couple miles until the crowds had spread out.

Overall, this was a blast! I won’t get to run it next year as we’ll be in Omaha, but I’ll be back in two years to re-run this thing for sure.

*Finish Line*

Stone Tower Trail Race 2009

November 6, 2009 - Posted by Bobby - No Comments »

On October 25th I got to run my first trail race up in Lynn, MA. It was the Stone Tower Trail Race and it was a ton of fun.

I only started running seriously at the start of August when I finally found Vibram Five Fingers and for the first time in my life can run totally pain free in my lower legs and knees.

I am now logging 15 miles a week all in my VFF barefoot shoes and I’ve never felt better. I’ve also lost 13lbs since September 15th which is just an added bonus to the whole thing!

Anyways, I look forward to running the Stone Tower 15K race next year and making some serious time improvements!

Labor Day Weekend Fishing Extravaganza

September 8, 2009 - Posted by Bobby - No Comments »

This weekend we decided to tear up the open sea’s once again. So Pops Love, Dave, Mel, and Matt all flew out to Boston Thursday afternoon.

We consumed over 240 beers, caught over 60 fish, kept over 25 fish, ate 13lbs of fried Cod and Haddock, smoked a dozen or so cigars, and managed to get no one killed.

***I’ll start with the photo hardest to decipher. It’s a whale people. We saw a bunch of whales.***

***Matt sez, “fishin is fun”***

***the first trip my dad dominated the catch count…this time, he was in the bottom half***

***Capt. Gary unhooking a Cod***

***Mel fishing it up AND I’m pretty sure he arse is about to move the throttle to fully open***

***Ben, jerkin his rod around***

***Father and Son after a good day fishing***

***Matt had his sunblock on like this all day, so at the end I just had to get a photo of the white faced man***

***The guys with the fish. Even though about 85% of those fish were mine…I didn’t manage to get IN the photo. The joys of being the photographer…***
